What to expect at a Music Festival:

Going to a music festival for the first time can sometimes be difficult to comprehend especially due to the highly energetic environment and continuously loud atmosphere. Expect lots of noise, large crowds/lines and an vibrant atmosphere at most music festivals. Secondly, it's typically for a festival to have a very social environment in which people will be chatting and interacting with each other in different ways. Audience members will chat with complete strangers between sets and fellow campers unite late at night to form larger parties. People like to make new friends in which they share similar interest and friends that they may see at music festivals in the future. In addition, the nature of a given music festival will depend largely on the type of music featured and the sort of demographics the particular event attracts. For example, Stereosonic held in Sydney's west will attract a different crowd to a festival like Splendour in the Grass or Falls Festival up in Byron. This is due to the different demographics and different types of music being played. Stereosonic has a urban vibe with up beat electronic music whereas the country festivals have a more laid back vibes that suits the 'indie' culture. Lastly, as for food, souvenirs and restroom facilities, expect high prices and long lines. Music festivals can really take the energy and cash out of you, so prioritise when budgeting your time and money over the course of the event.
